And then it hit me. Why do I really need to be doing anything right now. The rest of my family is sleeping (minus one hiccuping baby) and here I am feeling like I’m being lazy if I’m not doing something. Why do I feel guilty if my feet aren’t moving or if my hands aren’t working?

Instagram post 18118930042062161 Asking for a friend, how do you handle loving makeup and/or hairstyling without handing down insecurities or unrealistic standards to our daughters? I feel like a hypocrite sometimes when I'm applying mascara to my blonde eyelashes and Evy says, "Can I have some, mommy?" And I say, "No, baby, you're too pretty for mascara." But by saying that, am I not saying that I believe I'm NOT too pretty for it? 🥴
Still navigating this one but I'm thinking the approach of makeup as a fun hobby or a way to dress up might be healthier than seeing it as a daily routine to cover up. That means I need to treat it that way, too. Examples are stronger than words!

Instagram post 17856006169655193 When I used to take David to the park, it would take him 20 minutes to even start playing because he was so worried about being around other kids. These days, I am so impressed with how brave and friendly he is! He loves his friends at school, running around and kicking a soccer ball, and Jiu Jitsu-ing with his mama (👀 today's stories). I'm so proud and can't wait to see how else he continues to grow!
Instagram post 17991497683281686 A while ago, I was speaking with someone about marriage and sharing a little bit about my and Josh's story. I shared about a time when I felt hurt and it was easy to go from feeling hurt to keeping a mental score card from when I would do anything to "serve" my husband. It was almost as if I was racking up my spouse-points so I could feel like some type of winner in the end. Little did I realize that by doing that (on purpose or sub-consciously), we were both losing. Not only that, but it made Josh feel like he had to defend himself and therefore start keeping a scorecard himself 🤦🏼‍♀️ So how does it end? Not at the same time, I'll tell you that. It takes one spouse realizing they're not God's gift to marriage and looking at themselves (flaws and all) with eyes wide open 👀. It doesn't happen by telling your spouse all the ways they need to change or all the ways you're better than them. It starts by loving the way you'd want to be loved. By trying your very best to love the way Jesus loves you, fatal flaws and all. Even if doesn't always feel fair.

Do you ever struggle with having the same standards for yourself as you do your spouse? I know I do 🙋🏼‍♀️
Instagram post 18084349840081685 What's the longest distance you've ever moved?
It feels like we've been waiting and saving for so long and then at the beginning of next year, everything's going to happen at once. We're going to get a new car, new home, and see what's in store for this next chapter of life.
One thing we're trying to decide now is if we should buy a car here and pack up our trailer and haul our stuff across the country ourselves (like we did last time and ended up burying our old but beloved Honda Pilot in the process) OR hire a moving company to do the heavy lifting for us and by a car once we get over there. Decisions decisions... What would you do?
